Honduran, Oscar Zeta Acosta
Oscar Zeta Acosta is a writer, lawyer, and political activist. He is from Honduras. He was born on April 8, 1935. Acosta although he was born in Honduras he is also most well known as the author of two of the most important novels of the Chicano Protest movement, Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo in 1972.
Panamanian, Gloria Guardia
Gloria Guardia was born in Venezuela. Her father is Carlos Guardia and he was a sanitary engineer. Her mother is Olga Zeledon and she was from a prominent Nicaraguan family. She was a student at Vassar. She spent her junior year in Spain and wrote her first novel there which was Tiniebla Blanca. She wrote another novel called El Ultimo Juego.
Costa Rican, Carmen Naranjo
Carmen Naranjo was born in Cartago in 1928 and passed away January 4, 2012. She was a writer and a woman engaged in politics in the 60s and 70s. She was the first women appointed as a member of the Costa Rica academy of the Spanish language. Carmen did not only represent the capacity of women to achieve positions of relevance in a traditional society.

El Salvadoran, Carmen Lars
Carmen Lars was born in El Salvador on December 20 1899 to Patrick Brannon and Irish engineer. Her mother was Manuela Vega and was also born in El Salvador. She wrote her first book in 1915-1916, Tristes Mirajes (Sad Mirages).she wrote it when she was 16 years old. She wrote another book in 1921 Repertorio Americano (American Repertoire).

Guatemalan, Miguel Angel Asturias
Miguel Angel Asturias was born in Guatemala on 1899 and died on 1974. He spent his childhood and adolescence in his native country. He studied for his baccalaureate at the state high school and later took a law degree at the University of San Carlos. His thesis on “The Social Problem of the Indian’ was published in 1923.
Nicaraguan, Claribel Alergia
Claribel Alegria was born on May 12, 1924. She grew up in the Santa Ana area of western El Salvador and in 1943 she moved to the United States. In 1948 she received a B.A. in Philosophy and letters from George Washington University. Throughout her life she has emphasized the commitment to nonviolent resistance.
